What did the local election mean?

A friend asked me to provide a wrap-up of the local election.

Local voters are tired of the status quo. Those incumbents who did the poorest are the ones seen as the biggest obstacles to progress.

A community in the modern world either grows or dies.

The new council will need to be demonstrative in its first two months. It must lead staff instead of being led.

Also of note, the Escambia County Sheriff election will bring remarkable change to the region. A smart, good-looking, educated professional will now be the senior elected official in Escambia County. If we still look like a throwback to the Old South in four years, it won't be with our Sheriff's face on our image as it has been for decades. I contend that the strong-armed, over-politicized ECSO has been as big a detriment on our region's health and consequently growth as most any other reason.
