What?

During my campaign interview with the Pensacola News Journal, my opponent for re-election said he had been told by some City Council members that they voted against my measures because they don't like me.

What? ????

If true, and I believe it is, how irresponsible of them!!

The reason I believe it's true is because one member got mad at me for recruiting a candidate in his district. He said, "Sam, we're peers, we're brothers. That ain't right for you to do that. We're supposed to support one another. How can you be against me like that?"

I said, "************, you've never supported me, not even once. And now, you're crying because I'm not supporting you. I want someone who will work with me on Council."

He said, "It's not that I don't support you Sam, it's that you came in here gangbusters and you had to be taught a lesson."

Like I said before, how irresponsible!!

Knowing some of the Council members motives should leave you little doubt why we're in the shape we're in. I really believe some look at City Council as being on the board of the local country club or an adult equivalent of a high school student council....where popularity takes precedence over sound management.

I don't like using this blog for electioneering, but I hope everyone is taking a good look at who is running and what his or her motives are.

In the end, I hope I have a Council I can work with. Is it electioneering to say that?

The voters will be teaching them a big lesson this election when they are sent HOME. Goodbye Nobles, Wiggins, & DeSorbo. Hello progress for Pensacola.

Who cares about that one?

The person that said that has to look to his left to get the ok wink so he knows HOW to vote.

If THAT doesn't sound like someone with a chip on his shoulder, I don't know what does?

It is precisely because of civic leaders with attitudes like this that gets people frustrated with our system.

An honorable man would apologize for such a careless statement. Publicly.
